Frank Andersen

Frank Andersen, the Commander of the Danish Dannebrog order, has led an exceptional career in ballet. Frank Andersen was trained at the Royal Danish Ballet School at the Royal Theatre. He became Dancer in the Royal Danish Ballet in 1971and was appointed Principal Dancer in 1977.
Andersen was the originator of the “Bournonville Group” with principals of the Royal Danish Ballet 1976, touring with the group in USA 1976, ’77, ’78, ’79, ’82, ’85 and ’86, Canada and Scandinavia 1977, Central America 1978, France, Italy and Israel 1979, West Germany 1980, ’81 and ’83, Sweden, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Thailand 1980, Finland, Holland and Italy 1981, France, Hong Kong and Malaysia 1985 and touring in Denmark from 1976.
Andersen has held many roles as an Artistic Director including the Royal Danish Ballet (1985-1994 & 2002-2008) and the Royal Swedish Ballet (1995-1999).
Frank Andersen served as the Director of August Bournonville-Ballet productions for the Monte Carlo Ballet, the Royal Danish Ballet, the Inoue Ballet, Tokyo, the National Ballet of China, the Royal Swedish Ballet, the Repertory Company, ABT, USA, the Finnish National Ballet, the State Ballet of Georgia, the National Ballet of Estonia, the Maggio Dance Company, Italy, the National Ballet of Prague, the National Ballet of Cuba, the San Carlo Theatre Ballet, Italy, the Stanislavskij Theatre Ballet, Russia, the Vietnam National Opera Ballet, the Companhia Nacional De Bailado, Portugal, the National Ballet of Slovenia, the Liaoning Ballet, China, the Beijing Dance Academy, the Ballet Teatro Teresa Carreno, Venezuela, the Royal Conservatory and Dance, Holland, the Ballet Nacional SODRE, Uruguay, the GOH Ballet Academy, Canada, the National Conservatory of Dance, Portugal, the Macedonian National Opera and Ballet, Staattsballett Berlin, Germany and the Oregon Ballet Theatre, USA.
