This fantastic program will be offered in the USA for the very FIRST time. The course will be offered in six one-day seminars exploring the foundation of classical ballet technique, more advanced elements of technique and artistry, and good teaching practices. About
The Royal Ballet’s: Inspire program will be held June 17-22, 2023 from 10am to 4:30pm. The course will be instructed by Sarah Daultry. Each day will cover a new topic during the 6-day course.
Day 1: The foundation of classical ballet
Aims:
- To provide a practical workshop for teachers that explores the basic concepts of classical ballet technique
- To highlight the importance of the foundations of classical ballet technique including posture, placement, use of turn-out and weight placement
- To explore the mechanics and aesthetics of port de bras
- To introduce the concept of good teaching, leading towards the development of a personal philosophy of teaching.

- Practical application of the foundations of technique
- Port de bras: line and coordination
- What makes a good teacher?
Day 2: Analyzing the elements of technique 1: barre work
Aims:
- To explore how we learn to dance through motor learning
- To analyze the vocabulary of classical ballet that is taught at the barre
- To develop skill in teaching barre work.
Outline:
- Motor learning: how do we learn to dance?
- Barre work: practical application, observation and analysis
Day 3: Analyzing the elements of technique 2: center work
Aims:
- To explore how students learn and effective teaching practice
- To analyze the vocabulary of classical ballet that is taught in centre practice
- To highlight how classical ballet vocabulary progresses from the barre to the centre
- To develop skill in teaching centre practice
- To explore effective communication
- To develop skills in the demonstration of enchaînement and the use of voice in delivering a lesson.
Outline:
- How do we learn? How should we teach? An introduction to learning and teaching
- Centre work: practical application, observation and analysis
- Demonstration, the use of voice and communication
Day 4: Analyzing the elements of technique 3: allegro
Aims:
- To analyze the allegro section of classical ballet vocabulary
- To highlight how allegro is developed at the barre and in the centre
- To develop skill in teaching allegro
- To develop skills in lesson planning and time management.
Outline:
- Allegro: practical application, observation and analysis
- Lesson planning and time management
Day 5: Analyzing the elements of technique 4: pointe work
Aims:
- To analyze pointe work for students at different levels of training
- To develop skill in teaching pointe work
- To develop skills in enchaînement construction
- To explore the concepts of motivation and effective feedback.
Outline:
- Pointe work: pre-pointe training, initial pointe training, developing strength and control on pointe, and introduction to advanced vocabulary
- Enchaînement construction
- Motivation and effective feedback
Day 6: Good teaching practice
Aims:
- To gain practical experience in setting, demonstrating and correcting enchaînements
- To develop effective teaching skills
- To highlight the importance of developing artistry in tandem with technique.
Outline:
- Developing and delivering an enchaînement

Two Payment options available:
- Pay in Full — Participants who pay in full at registration will receive a waived deposit fee ($100 value)
- Deposit now, pay later — Payment of the deposit is required at registration ($100 fee.) The remainder ($1,400 | $1,900) will be due June 1, 2023.
Additional Information
Teacher Training Facility
The Teacher Training Program will be held at Millsaps College from June 17-22, 2023. Sessions will be held from 10am to 4:30pm daily.
Housing
The Westin Jackson is the official hotel of the USA International Ballet Competition.
The International Village stretches from the Westin Jackson to the Jackson Convention Complex. The Westin Jackson is adjacent to Thalia Mara Hall, where all USA IBC performances are held, and a half block from the MS Arts Center. Additionally, the Jackson Convention Complex (site of the competitor classes, and Entergy Grand Prix Ball) is block from the Westin Jackson.
A shuttle will be provided to & from Millsaps College, where the Teacher Training Program is held, and to Belhaven University, where the International Dance School is held.
Special discounted room block will be provided! Code valid until May 24, 2023.

Two Payment Options:
- Deposit now and pay remainder later: Pay $100 deposit at registration – remaining $1,400 or $1,900 tuition due by June 1, 2023
- Full Payment at Registration: Submit full payment and receive a $100 discount! $1,400 (standard package) or $1,900 (premium package) tuition payment at registration

Lecture and Class Observation
The Teacher Training Program includes observation of competitor classes (Round 1 & 2), Dance School classes, and Dance School master classes.
Performances
The Premium Package includes tickets in the orchestra section of Thalia Mara Hall to all USA International Ballet Competition performances (excluding the Encore Gala). Additional ticket information can be found here!
Travel Details
The Teacher Training Program will begin on Saturday, June 17, 2023, and conclude on June 22, 2023.
Teacher Training Program participants have access to the USA IBC Shuttle route.
Transportation from the Jackson-Evers International Airport is not provided.
